On 11 October 2016, around 45 representatives from Austrian EMAS organisations came together at PMS following an invitation to attend an Information Exchange Group. Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) and business consultant Hermine Dimitroff, the main focus of the event was on “Methods & Software Tools to Ensure Legal Security”.
Andreas Tschulik from the BMLFUW opened proceedings by outlining the benefits for EMAS organisations. This was followed by a report from Herbert Buchinger (SCA Hygiene Products GmbH), Albin Knauder (KABEG) and Martin Grünwald (PMS) on their personal experiences using the software tools in place at their companies and their methods for ensuring legal security and practical implementation.
The participants were then divided into five working groups to discuss their own experiences and put forward suggested improvements in these areas, before the focus switched to more practical applications as Martin Grünwald led a tour of the site, giving the attendees an insight into how PMS works and how it embodies and implements environmental management processes.
