“For me, it’s the working environment that makes PMS special. Everyone can talk to their colleagues and their managers about anything, so we can work together to overcome challenges. But it’s not all about the work – the social aspect of it is really important too, and you always have the chance to develop professionally and as a person.”
Technical expertise and a solution-first approach are definitely the core of what makes a good engineer. And you should also be willing to improve your skills to make sure you can adhere to and comply with the changing requirements, standards and regulations. You also need a certain amount of adaptability, because you’re constantly dealing with different customers and contacts.
As well as the technical expertise and solution-first approach I mentioned before, good engineers need to work well in a team and have the skills to find the right approach to tackling customer problems.
It’s never dull: you’re always faced with new challenges as new issues, tasks and projects come up. We usually work in a project team with several people. It’s fun to be part of such a highly motivated team and to work on finding the perfect solutions.
There’s hardly anything that engineers don’t have to do. OK, accounting might be something – I barely have anything to do with that.
We are in constant communication with our customers, and we often work on customer sites. Meetings, commissioning, and sometimes even the entire planning and design process can take place at their sites.
Engineering is involved in practically every single project. It’s the link between project management, distributor design, assembly and our customers.
You work in an incredibly motivated team.
